The Parish Church, Lourdes

The parish church that Bernadette attended as a young girl was destroyed by fire around 1870. The existing church, Sacred Heart, was initially finished around 1890, with the baptismal font being the only thing remaining from the original church. We had mass on Monday morning with our group and the Malta Association from the east coast, the Federal group. Bishop Brown from Orange, Ca was the celebrant. We are nearing the end of our pilgrimage and bringing the malades to this church and to Bernadette's very small and humble apartment where she and her family lived, continues to bring to the life this young girl who Christ used through Mary to lead millions from around the world tho the healing waters of Lourdes and into the presence of He and His mother.
