The Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament begins at an altar under a canopy across the river Gave. The consecrated host, resting in the large Monstrance is placed upon this altar. The gospel is proclaimed by three deacons in three languages.....French, English and Italian. We then process across one the bridges spanning the River Gave, to the steps of the Rosary Basilica where adoration continues. When the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament is in place, those able to do so, are invited to kneel and pray in silence. There is a profound silence from the huge crowd in plaza facing the Basilica. Never have I witnessed so many people, in such respectful silence. Only the birds were speaking, and, in the accompanying silence, we might hear God's reply to one of our prayers.
