In this Abbey constructed in the 11th Century we celebrated mass. Bishop Soto was the principal celebrant and Fr. George Mockel of Orinda was our homilist. The message, we need to be at a particular time and place, with the correct circumstances to receive any gift...for our gift of faith we must also be in the correct frame of mind. Simple, but of course very true. The stone walls, stained glass, old murals and art resonate the voices of the Benedictine monks who once labored and lived here. This 1000 year old church is the oldest church where I have served as a deacon.
