The Healing Waters of the Lourdes Baths

The baths at Lourdes sit just beside the river Gave. As pilgrims wait on benches before entering the private baths inside, the Ave Maria is sung alternatively with decades of the rosary being recited. The faces of those awaiting to enter the baths are a mixture of anxiousness, solemn prayer, gentle reflection, and yes fear and worry. Upon leaving the baths in the faces I observed today, was a serenity of peace, hope and, yes joy. While the water is indeed cold, all mentioned how quickly they felt warm again upon getting out of the water. All pray for the miracle of healing in body, mind and spirit. Recognizing the peaceful and loving presence of God is the miracle we all seek and share in common.
